TOUCHING 100 LIVES - ARK ANIMAL
--:--
The Animal Ark Rescue Centre in Chartwell was formed in 2011 by Tracey Otto out of her great passion for the rehabilitation and re-homing of puppies, pregnant moms and small breed dogs from all types of backgrounds across Gauteng. She runs the centre with her two daughters, community service students and the benevolence of volunteers, who help over week-ends.
In their first 100 days, they homed 100 dogs – a first in welfare. A non-profit, no-suffer centre, the Ark’s primary focus is education and awareness. While Hot Cares receives numerous requests for assistance (and have assisted with smaller animal shelters which survive day to day), we are inspired by Tracey and her team actively seeking sustainable solutions for funding going forward.
So Tracey is taking matters into her own hands, building walking paths and a picnic area, to create a space that can serve as an income generator to provide the money needed to care for the animals. Their current project will need IRB sheeting, cement and other building supplies to complete their party venue and picnic area. Hot Cares will be donating R10 000 to the success of this endeavour!
