The Beitbridge border gets another revamp

In this podcast, DJ Complexion and Mpho Mashita catch up with the portfolio committee on Public Works and Infrastructure, Nolitha Ntobongwana about updates on the revamping of the Beitbridge border.
During his budget 2021budget speech, Minister of Finance Tito Mboweni mentioned that in order to improve access to African Markets, our six busiest border posts will be upgraded and expanded. He also mentioned that there will be significant infrastructure interventions starting with Beitbridge border.

There have also been report that lenders have provided $130 million in loans for an upgrade of the Beitbridge border. $65 million of that amount developmental finance from Afreximbank and Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund.

Over a few months ago the department of Public Works and Infrastructure came under fire for the installation of the R37 million fence which has since collapsed.
