When Britain’s soon-to-be-on-his way Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, married Carrie Symonds in May last year, she rented her wedding dress from an app called My Wardrobe HQ and also used the service to dress impressively at an all-important G7 Summit.
And should Boris wish to wander around incognito after being shown the door, he could hide his trademark hairstyle under a rented wig. If he finds he’s being shunned by once-fawning political cronies and acolytes, he could turn to a rent-a-friend website for some friendly company.
The concept of ‘renting’ has certainly taken off in recent years – whether due to cost, no-hassle expediency, respect for the environment, low frequency of usage, or as a lifestyle choice.
