DA introduces five-point plan to stabilise coalitions  

The DA on Thursday presented draft legislation to stabilise coalition governments after the 2024 national and provincial elections. The five-point plan is aimed at prioritising service delivery while reducing party political fractiousness. According to DA leader John Steenhuisen, the draft legislation is not to fix the party's problems with coalitions, but to “fix to a South African problem with coalitions”. It is time South Africa’s electoral legislative framework catches up with the state of the country’s democracy, he says.
