Arguably one of South Africa’s best known performers and songwriters is Coenie De Villiers. He has released 22 albums of his own works, received a huge number of awards, he’s written and opera and a ballet and he anchored the kykNet flagship magazine programme Kwela for 17 years. Coenie began his career as an announcer on several radio stations after lecturing in Media and Communication Sciences at the University of the Free State. The play he does with author Deon Meyer, Karoo Suite 2, has just ended a hugely successful run at the Theatre on the Bay.
