Consumer inflation eases further to 7.2% in December.

As expected, headline inflation was 7.2% y/y in December from 7.4% in November. This brings average inflation to 6.9% in 2022, up from 4.5% in 2021, the highest since 2009.

Core inflation was 4.9% y/y, down from 5.0% previously, but had monthly pressure of 0.2% that was driven by housing and household contents. Core inflation averaged 4.3% in 2022, services inflation was 4.0% and core goods inflation averaged 5.2%.
