South Africa has been slipping on rankings of the world 'Ease of Doing Business rankings' occupying 84th place out of 190 economies according to a 2022 World Bank report. This report has since been replaced by a new "Business Ready" ranking and the city that plans to stand out and become the easiest place to do business in Africa, is Cape Town. Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has launched an ease of doing business index that will track ten critical indicators for ease of doing business. Hill-Lewis told BizNews the index will have a special focus on enabling greater infrastructure investment.
