MID-TERM BUDGET: Debt support relief for municipalities that owe Eskom, says finance minister

Finance minister Enoch Godongwana says the government has introduced support to provide relief to municipalities that are in debt to Eskom. He was delivering his medium-term budget policy statement on Wednesday.In August electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said municipalities owed Eskom R63.2bn. Godongwana said the debt owed to the power utility up to March 31, 2023 will be written off over a three-year period.
