Lesufi explains how e-tolls will be scrapped by March

Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi said the provincial government will borrow money from a national government financial institution to pay the R12bn e-toll debt to the South African National Roads Agency). Lesufi was briefing the media on Tuesday morning after his state of the province address (Sopa) on Monday. During his speech Lesufi said e-tolls would be scrapped, keeping a promise he made during his Sopa in 2022. The premier said engagements with national government about scrapping e-tolls were not easy.
