GUEST - Linda Mabhena-Olagunju

DLO Energy Resources Group, a wholly Black female owned renewable energy company, is set to host the DLO AFRICA POWER ROUNDTABLE 2024 on 5 March 2024 in partnership with ABSA Bank. The roundtable aims to address critical challenges hindering the participation of Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in South Africa's Just Energy Transition.

As the just energy transition gains momentum, it is important that African SMMEs do not get left behind, particularly those that have benefited from the hydrocarbon sector. Substantial focus has been placed on the just energy transition and funding of decarbonisation efforts, however, there has been a lack of attention with respect to how SMMEs can transition their companies to service the clean energy sector.

Under the current status, SMMEs face difficulties accessing funding and an enabling environment crucial for their growth. These challenges are intrinsically linked to the need for skills development and transitioning at the same pace as the industry evolves.
