SpendTrend24, a survey released last week, has revealed that the City of Gold is deserving of its name: when it comes to ka-ching, Joburgers are SA's biggest spenders, shelling out almost 50% more than the average citizen!

The study, which analysed credit card data, showed that groceries, retail, travel and fuel were SA's biggest spend categories, with retail shopping being the main category for high-network clients. For mass, mass affluent and everyday affluent consumers, groceries were the biggest budget line item. The survey also showed that Joburg spends more than other provinces on eating out.
