Nearly 20% of victims who called the police to report a crime said officers never arrived at the scene, according to Statistics South Africa's (Stats SA) victims of crime report, which was released on Tuesday. The report, which used a sample size of 30 000 households across the country, contains data on people's perception of safety and their experiences of crime and the police. The team reflected on these figures and spun this by inviting Joburgers to share their good experiences with the SAPS or police force.
