Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has raised concern about the high rate of extortions in the Eastern Cape. She is currently on a nationwide, learning and listening campaign to assess challenges facing the education sector and to find solutions. The visit comes as the province is reeling from the brazen shooting of a school principal in front of teachers and pupils at Zakhele primary school at KwaBhaca in the Alfred Nzo West district. The educator was killed on the premises by a lone gunman on Wednesday. Gwarube speaks to Phemelo about her visit and some of the interventions she will be putting in place to address challenges facing the province.
