As of March 2024, the Gross loan portfolio of Micro Finance industry has grown to Rs 4.42 lakh crore, up 26.8% over the previous year. Though active loans have grown 14% YoY, the Average ticket size has also increased by 12% YoY. While the industry witnessed best of asset quality trends in the last 2 years, Q1'FY25 saw some concerns over AQ led by elections, heatwave and overleverage. MFIN (Industry and Self regulatory association) has also issued guidelines to limit the micro-indebtedness for every borrower up to Rs 2 lakh with a maximum of 4 lenders.
