SPAR reported that group revenue fell slightly to R66.1 billion compared to R66.2 billion reported last year, while its gross profit margin expanded to 10.7% from 10.6%, rising to 9.8% from 9.6% in southern Africa.

Operating profit before extraordinary items grew 1.6% to R1.46 billion, but the group reported a total loss of about R4 billion.
