Makate vs Vodacom: ConCourt Resets the Billion-Rand Battle

It’s been almost 20 years since Nkosana Makate began his legal fight with Vodacom over the “Please Call Me” invention and the battle continues. In a scathing judgement, the Constitutional Court overturned a February SCA ruling that had awarded Makate billions, citing errors in law and judgment. The matter now goes back to the SCA for reconsideration by a new panel. Also, in the courts the ConCourt dismissed Jacob Zuma and the MK Party’s challenge against President Ramaphosa's decision to appoint Prof Firoz Cachalia as acting police minister and establish the Madlanga Commission.
