Sheba Mine cuts off underground food supply to illegal miners

Management at Sheba Mine near Barberton has confirmed it has blocked off underground food and water supply routes in a renewed effort to force illegal miners to the surface. The move comes as security sweeps continue in the historic gold mining area, where hundreds of suspected illegal miners have been emerging in recent days. To date, 546 illegal miners have been arrested. Phemelo speaks to Mametlwe Sebei from Lawyers for Human Rights about the human impact of this approach.
