De Lille Fires SA Tourism Board Over ‘Unlawful’ Moves, But Critics Hit Back

Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has axed the entire SA Tourism board with immediate effect, accusing them of taking illegal decisions behind closed doors. She says a special meeting they held on 1 August was unlawfully called, especially since there was no chairperson at the time to authorise it. But not everyone is on her side. Civil society group OUTA has slammed her move as “disgraceful describing it as political overreach.
