“Collapse is Imminent” - KZN Top Cop Warns of Justice System Crisis at Madlanga Inquiry

Loading player...
A chilling warning from one of the country’s top police officials: South Africa’s justice system is at risk of total collapse. KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, testifying on the first day of the Madlanga Commission, pulled no punches. He told the commission that unless deep-seated issues like political interference, corruption, and criminal infiltration within SAPS and the broader justice system are addressed, the entire structure could fall apart. This inquiry follows explosive claims Mkhwanazi made in July, where he alleged that criminal syndicates with alleged ties to suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu have penetrated law enforcement. Mkhwanazi insists his statements were not his alone, but part of a collective call from within SAPS leadership to clean up the system. Phemelo digs into the deeper implications with independent crime expert Chris de Kock, who’s worked closely with the commissioner.
