Helen Zille is back - this time trading her conservative Twitter takes for campaign kicks in Johannesburg. The DA has unveiled the 74-year-old political veteran as its mayoral candidate, with a slick Soweto launch promising to take Joburg “from Dada to Gogo” - a swipe at struggling ANC incumbent Dada Morero. Zille says she’s “a daughter of Johannesburg” returning home, even if it means giving up precious granny time. In a conversation with Govan Whittles, she unpacks her decision to take on the challenge of a city plagued by water cuts, power outages and infrastructure decay.
