Sudan Crisis Deepens: North Darfur Fighting Triples Displacement

A worsening war in Sudan is pushing the humanitarian crisis into overdrive. Renewed clashes in el-Fasher, capital of North Darfur, have tripled displacement in nearby Tawila this year, while 62% of el-Fasher’s population has fled, according to the International Organization for Migration. With over 12 million people displaced and 24 million facing food insecurity, the crisis is now the world’s largest of its kind. The conflict, now in its third year, continues to devastate civilians. Nzinga Qunta speaks to Mohamed Osman from Human Rights Watch on the worsening conditions.
