The criminal case against Police National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has been postponed to 13 May in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. Masemola faces four counts linked to alleged violations of the Public Finance Management Act over a controversial R360 million SAPS contract awarded to alleged underworld figure Vusumuzi “Cat” Matlala. The matter will now be heard alongside Matlala and 15 co-accused. The cancelled contract is also under scrutiny by the Madlanga Commission and Parliament’s ad hoc committee, where testimony has pointed to alleged links between Matlala and senior SAPS figures. Phemelo speaks to Kaya News Reporter Karinda Jagmohan.
