Prince K credits Trevor Noah as inspiration ahead of Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards debut

Durban-born comedian Prince K says his journey has come full circle as he prepares for his first Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards appearance, where he is nominated for the Newcomer Award.

The 23-year-old, raised in Kranskop in rural KwaZulu-Natal, reflects on watching Trevor Noah DVDs as a child and how those early influences shaped his path in comedy. Speaking ahead of the ceremony, he says he is “filled with all sorts of emotions” as he prepares to go up against Akhil Maharaj, Nishen Pather, Rae du Plooy and Sjika Da Thirdborn at Gold Reef City next Saturday.
