The South African Weather Service (SAWS) on the evening of Monday 29 June 2026 took its safety of life and property message to vulnerable communities in the Eastern and Western Cape provinces. The winter season is known to bring much weather-related devastation to communities in the two provinces. A special radio programme aired simultaneously on eleven community radio stations that broadcast to the affected provinces, equipping communities with critical information that they can use to stay out of harm’s way in times of severe weather. Weather forecasting, disaster management and municipal support experts were close at hand to interact with listeners during the call-in broadcast. The programme, was transmitted from the SAWS radio studios at Head Office.
