What do you do when the career you trained for doesn't lead to employment? In this inspiring episode of Street Shoutouts, we spotlight the journey of Mbatsane Mmeli Xolane, a 27-year-old entrepreneur from Mpumalanga who turned unemployment into opportunity by building a successful farming business.

After struggling to find work as a qualified mining safety officer, Mbatsane chose agriculture instead. Today, he grows vegetables and avocados, employs five people, supplies local markets, and is proving that farming can be a profitable business that creates jobs and strengthens communities.

Join us as we discuss whether more young South Africans should consider farming and entrepreneurship, the challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector, and what government and the private sector can do to support youth-led businesses. We also invite listeners to share their views on turning unemployment into entrepreneurship and changing perceptions about farming as a career.
