God is Kind – A Message from Titus 3:4-5 on Grace and Salvation

In this episode on Radio Cape Pulpit, Rodney Brown delivers a Bible message based on Titus 3:4-5: "But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us."
Rodney explains that God is kind (or good/gracious) – one of His glorious attributes, along with light, righteousness, and love. He points out that before this verse, Paul describes what people were like before their conversion – sinful and far from God. But when humanity deserved God's judgment, His kindness and love appeared in the person of Jesus Christ, born in Bethlehem.
He emphasizes that Jesus came the first time not as a Judge, but as a Savior (John 3:17). If He had come as Judge, there would be no hope – but He came to save. And this is not by our own works of righteousness – we can do nothing to earn God's favor – but according to His mercy.
At the cross of Calvary, the righteous Son of God took the punishment for our sins – the just for the unjust (1 Peter 3:18). He bore the judgment so that we might be brought to God. Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Rodney closes with the invitation: "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).
