The Monologue with Zibuse L Kunene

Pain and Suffering

"Emotional freedom begins when you stop treating every thought as truth and every preference as a command that reality must obey."

Pain and suffering are necessary in life. A monotonous life, whether of prosperity or suffering, only soon becomes dull. Perpetual suffering makes life difficult to bear, although your reality and experience of life will be that life must be that way and no other. A life void of pain and suffering teaches nothing and your mind atrophy.

Life, therefore, has its own share of pain and suffering that shapes your character and builds wisdom in you. But some people have a propensity towards adding unnecessary burdens of pain and suffering through how they overthink themselves into pain and suffering. They take an experience and superimpose their irrational thinking and interpretation that adds unnecessary pain and suffering.

You must learn emotional regulation and maturity because therein lies your key to a happy and peaceful life. And you must remember that a happy and peaceful life does not mean the absence of pain and suffering.
