Loading player...
On Weekend Breakfast’s Teach Me Sports feature, Zisto interviews nine-year-old Simi and 13-year-old Olu, two young Black equestrians from KwaZulu-Natal, about pursuing horse riding in a space where they’re rarely seen. Simi fell in love with horses at five and started competing in November, while Olu has been riding for two years and has represented KwaZulu-Natal nationally. They describe the commitment, patience and confidence the sport requires, the mental challenge of getting back on after falling, and Olu explains disciplines like showjumping, working hunter, dressage and cross-country. Their mothers share how they supported the boys’ passion and the discipline and resilience it’s building. The boys close by sharing big future goals, and Olu gives shout-outs to his sponsors and supporters.
