Frames of Time

Frames of Time

Frames of Time is a sonic research project that explores how symbolic systems emerge through sound, material culture, memory, and place. Through immersive field recordings, reflective narration, and observational storytelling, the series examines how meaning is embedded within landscapes, architecture, objects, and everyday environments.

The journey moves across three interconnected research sites: the Kalahari and Khomani San communities of South Africa, the cities and symbolic traditions of Morocco, and the layered public narratives of Prague. Rather than documenting destinations, Frames of Time investigates how places communicate through rhythm, repetition, texture, movement, and sound.

Inspired by research into Amazigh symbolism, indigenous knowledge systems, material culture, and public memory, the podcast uses listening as a research method. Sound becomes both archive and compass, revealing relationships between people, environments, and the symbolic structures that shape cultural experience.

The series unfolds in three movements:
• Frames of Time, perception and listening
• Invisible Cities: Morocco, Prague, Kalahari, sonic mapping and spatial exploration
• The Symbol Hunter, interpretation, symbolism, and field research

This is not a travel podcast. It is a sonic study of symbolic systems, tracing how meaning is woven, layered, forgotten, and rediscovered across time and place.

Frames of Time Subtitle: On Listening, Repetition, and the Structure of Percepti

This opening episode introduces Frames of Time as a conceptual framework. Rather than documenting place, it explores how environments are experienced through time, through repetition, rhythm, and subtle shifts in perception. Before symbols can be identified, there must be a way of listening. This episode establishes that approach.
