It will take alcohol producers another month to get going following latest booze ban

It will take the roughly 30 craft breweries that were on the brink of closure during the latest alcohol ban which was lifted on Sunday (25 July) to get up and going again. This is according to member of the Beer Association of South Africa (Basa) Apiwe Nxusani-Mawela who was reacting to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement that the country was moving from lockdown level 4 to 3. Despite Basa welcoming this important development, the association is of the view that it is “too little too late” for the many businesses that have been forced to close. Nxusani-Mawela’s brewery was one of those that were forced to close and she has since been forced to redirect her focus to training primarily.
