Metro Community Hero - Jacki Detlof-Wismer

Loading player...
Jacki runs Wismer Ecke, a German deli shop in the heart of Swakopmund that was severely hit during Covid, yet despite her own financial setbacks, she reached out to family and friends on Facebook offering to make delicious, nutritious soup for those unable to afford it or who were sick. As a trained paramedic, Jacki is able to help in the worst moments of people's lives, providing hope and light in dark times. This is no different to what she has done during these tough times. Jacki quickly became an integral part of the Ciske Covid Task Force and helped produce 720 portions of meals for people at home with covid, 576 bowls of soup for the Swakopmund state hospital patients and over 80 soups and brotchens for the victims of the DRC fire. Jacki also collected clothing, utensils and household items from those that were willing to donate. Wismer Ecke has prepared 32 care packages consisting of fresh vegetables, lentils, beans, stock, tin food as well as numerous healthy meals to covid families at their residence and recently, to the Welwitschia old age home. All this while still running her own business! She is an incredibly kind, generous soul who is not afraid of hard work. Imagine all the extra time and effort this took! She deserves the recognition as a Community Hero, because she is one.
