Macufe labour case a lesson in upholding integrity and honesty at work

Charl Ranger a Senior Dispute Resolution Official at the Consolidated Employers Organisation (CEO) stresses the importance of being honest and upholding your integrity should your personal interests clash with your duties in the workplace. Ranger was speaking in reference to a labour matter dating back to 2015 involving a Chief Director at the Free State Department of Sports, Arts and Culture who procured business from the department for her guesthouse during the Macufe festival. The Labour Court in mid-October 2022 found in favour of the employer on the matter, following what appears to be years of back-and-forth litigation between the parties.
