Sibongile Mofokeng welcomes Ms. Pulane Mollo-Chego from Social Development to discuss the Homeless Programme led by the Gauteng Department of Social Development in collaboration with the City of Tshwane. The department is mandated to work with municipalities and civil society to provide shelters for the homeless, aiming to restore their dignity. Since 2021, the Gauteng City Region Strategy has focused on addressing adult street homelessness through integrated care, support, and protection services. The vision is to create a Gauteng City Region free of homelessness with safe housing for all. Currently, nine Non-Profit Organizations operate shelters in the Northern Corridor, serving 851 homeless people, with two NPOs offering drop-in services including food, showers, and help with employment applications. The program provides social housing, substance abuse intervention, and ongoing support to improve the lives of homeless beneficiaries Gauteng Department of Social Development.​
