The CRL Latest News After the Backlash from Christian Groups

Loading player...
Sibongile Mofokeng and Pastor Lukas Nkosi discuss the latest developments with South Africa's CRL Rights Commission, particularly backlash against its new Section 22 oversight committee for the Christian sector. Critics from church groups argue it represents unconstitutional state interference, flawed formation, and risks controlling religious practices, sparking legal challenges and protests. The Commission maintains the committee promotes self-regulation within the religious sector to tackle commercialization of faith, abuse, and ethical lapses. Pastor Nkosi highlights the tension between oversight and religious freedom, urging churches to unite in response while upholding biblical integrity. The controversy underscores ongoing debates on balancing accountability with autonomy in faith communities.
