The Springbok Sevens team beat Fiji to secure the gold medal in New York and clinch the overall Sevens World Series title after winning their third tournament in a row.
In a pulsating final at Sports Illustrated Stadium in the Big Apple, the Blitzboks edged Fiji 10–7.
The Player of the Final, and former Griffons scrumhalf Selvyn Davids, who scored his 100th Blitzboks try earlier in the tournament, said the team’s success came down to their willingness to fight for one another.
