Sadtu to march against Free State Education MEC

The South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) in the Free State will march against the MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe, this week. Sadtu’s provincial secretary, Makholoane Moloi, says they have already embarked on a ‘work-to-rule’ campaign, since the schools reopened last week for the second term. Moloi says the union is unhappy about the manner in which Makgoe runs the department.

A memorandum will be handed over to Free State Premier, Ace Magashule’s office.

Meanwhile the provincial Department of Education says it is aware of the planned march. Spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, says they will wait for the memorandum to be handed over and then determine a way forward.
