Report on possible human rights violations against KhoiSan expected in September

The Northern Cape Education Department is expected to be rapped over the knuckles in a South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) report on possible human rights violations against KhoiSan communities.
This comes after community members laid several complaints during a series of public hearings, which formed part of a national investigation, that schools where their indigenous language was taught were closed down by the provincial education department.
The report is expected to be tabled in Parliament in September.
SAHRC Commissioner Danny Titus says the report will also include timelines for the recommendations made and a strong monitoring component.
