The situation is calm at the Qwaqwa campus of the University of the Free State (UFS) after classes were suspended on Wednesday amid violent protests.
Students interrupted classes and have forced the closure of the main road at the main gate over the last two days. Students are demanding that vacant posts be filled, that all classes and hostels transform and free wifi on campus, among other things. They handed over a memorandum of 24 demands to university management on Tuesday.

Free State police spokesperson, Thabo Litabe, says the university issued a court order this week barring all students from coming to campus.
