The Basic Education Department has been left baffled after the 'jobs-for-cash' report was leaked to the media.

A ministerial task team, led by Professor John Volmink, had been probing allegations of the sale of principal and teacher posts in the country. Members of teacher's union Sadtu were allegedly implicated in the scandal.

Education departement spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga says the final report was distributed to all teacher unions so they could make inputs.

Sadtu says it's disappointed by the leaking of the report, saying the process was yet to be completed. The report is due to be released on Friday.
