The Public Service Commission (PSC) is expected to release a report on the availability of textbooks, teaching and learning material at schools in the Free State later this month. Free State PSC Commissioner, Henk Boshoff, says the report will be made public on June 17. The commission conducted inspections at various schools in all five districts of the province in January. The inspections came amid fears raised by opposition parties in the province that the department’s financial woes would lead to a backlog in the provision of textbooks. The department was put under administration last year. Boshoff says the commission was however generally satisfied with the availability of learning material at schools.
