North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo, has condemned the torching of provincial Education MEC Sello Lehari’s house as well as at least three others that were set alight during protests in Moeka village near Makapanstad.

Residents started protesting last week over a lack of water in the area, which is served by the Moretele Local Municipality.

Mahumapelo says the Mayor and Councillors in the Municipality have been asked to convene a community meeting regarding the matter on Thursday.

He urged anyone with information to come forward.

Mahumapelo urged members of the ANC not to take the law into their own hands. He applauded the police for acting swiftly and arresting five suspects.
