Mbalula-Ntlemeza battle could spell a further rift within the ANC

A political analyst says the tussle between Police Minister Fikile Mbalula and former Hawks boss Berning Ntlemeza could spell a further rift within the ANC.

Last week Mbalula announced that Yolisa Matakata would be acting the head of the crime fighting unit following a high court ruling confirming that Ntlemeza's appointment to the position was unlawful and irrational. But, the former Hawks boss is fighting back, saying he answers to Parliament and not Mbalula. Ntlemeza also plans to appeal the high court ruling.

Political analyst Sanusha Naidu says it's another battle to keep an eye on.
