The newly-launched Freedom Movement will use next week’s Freedom Day celebrations to reiterate their demand for President Jacob Zuma to step down.

As the country celebrates 23 years since our first democratic elections in 1994, several political parties, religious groups and civil society organisations will gather to protest at Freedom Park in Pretoria. Maryke Vermaak has the detail.

The Freedom Movement was announced at the Hector Pietersen memorial museum on Thursday. It consists of the DA, UDM, Cope, IFP, ACDP and EFF. Union federation Fedusa and Solidarity joined the formation. Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu voiced his support on Twitter.
