Police in Wepener say the number of suspects and what is missing from a farmhouse in which a 48-year-old farmer and a worker were shot dead yesterday is still being investigated. Police spokesperson, Yanga Ngcukana says the bodies of the farmer and a house worker were discovered inside his house by a neighbour at around 14:00 yesterday.

The names of the deceased will be made public as soon as police confirms that family members have been informed. Meanwhile a farmer in the district who asked to stay anonymous says the murders are a great loss to the community and the farming industry as a whole in South Africa. According to him the deceased was an outgoing man with a kind hart. He was a good husband and father. Meanwhile in a second attack, a farmer whose elderly mother lives with him, was murdered on his farm Elim between Ladybrand and the Maseru border post yesterday afternoon. The farmer's mother was unharmed.
